How do you teach someone to love the land? Not just the remote wildernesses featured in glossy magazines and in pleas for environmental protection and requests for funding, but the places we actually inhabit.

-How to Love Where You’re From

As an artist and environmental advocate, I hope to help heal our relationship with the more-than-human world by drawing attention to wildlife everywhere—in both urban and rural settings.

My books blend science with storytelling.

I aim to address social and environmental injustice.

Every week, I share quiet reflections on nature and our place in it.

Giving yourself permission to step away from the human-made pandemonium is not the same thing as ignoring the problems we collectively face, it is honoring the fact that you are just one person, one who needs rest, community, and kindness to do their best work. Equally essential to our wellbeing is a relationship with the natural world. We need nature to feel whole and connected to the bigger picture.
